William Lawrence Grant – February 17, 1937 – May 14, 2026

William Lawrence Grant, known affectionately to all as Bill, passed away on May 14, 2026, in Viera, Florida. He was 89 years old. A man of deep conviction, tireless energy, and unwavering devotion to his family and community, Bill lived a life that touched countless others and left an enduring legacy of service and leadership. Born on February 17, 1937, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Bill grew up with a strong sense of purpose and determination. He went on to graduate from Villanova University, an achievement he counted among the proudest moments of his life. He also served his country honorably in the United States Navy Reserves, embodying the discipline and commitment that would define his character for decades to come. Bill was a builder in every sense of the word. As owner of Grant Homes, Pocono Auto mart and Wreck a Mend Collision Center, he built not only structures but also institutions, relationships, and communities. His professional life was guided by a personal philosophy he held dear: love your family, enjoy your work, work hard, and save for the future. These were not mere words to Bill; they were principles he lived by each and every day. His record of community involvement was nothing short of extraordinary. Bill served as a Life Scout in the Boy Scouts and as Deputy Chief of the Lamont Fire Company. He gave years of dedicated service to the United Penn Bank Board of Directors, the YMCA Board of Directors, and the East Stroudsburg University Foundation Board. His leadership was recognized time and again as he served as Past President of the West End Lions Club, Past President of the Pocono Builders Association, and Past President of the Pocono Mountain Board of Realtors. Perhaps most notably, he served for ten years as President of the Monroe County Planning Commission, helping to shape the future of the region he called home. In all of these roles, Bill brought the same qualities that defined him: strong work ethic, principled leadership, and a genuine pride in building something lasting for his community. Yet for all his professional and civic accomplishments, Bill always maintained that the greatest achievements of his life were personal. He spoke with the deepest love of marrying his wife, Carole A. Grant, and profound pride in his seven beautiful children. His love of family was the cornerstone of everything he did. Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Carole Grant of Viera, Fla. His sons, William B.J. Grant of Brodheadsville, Pa,. Jeffrey Scott Grant of Conway, SC, Daniel Grant of Virginia Beach, Va. and Jeff Lawrence Grant of Wayne, Pa. His daughters, Donna Martin of Doylestown, Pa, Jeannine Powell of Conshohocken, Pa. and Kimberly Niles of Devon-Berwyn, Pa. ; as well as 10 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and extended family members whose lives were made richer by his presence. May those who knew and loved Bill find comfort in the fullness of the life he lived and in the knowledge that his influence will continue to be felt for generations to come. His journey here is complete. The Eagle has landed. Memorial service will be on Saturday, June 27, 2026 from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at Gower Funeral Home in Brodheadsville, Pa. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages contributions to a charitable organization of one's choice in Bill's memory, continuing the legacy of service that was the hallmark of his remarkable life.
