Severino C. Presbitero Sr. – November 19, 1933 – September 19, 1933
Severino Carlos Presbitero Sr., a beloved father and devoted man of faith, passed away from a lung infection. He was born on November 19, 1933, in Puunene, Maui, Hawaii, and made his final home in Waiuku. As a young man, Severino worked in the sugar cane factory in Kahului. He left high school after the ninth grade to help support his family, a sacrifice that reflected his lifelong devotion to those he loved. He later married, moved to Oahu, and raised two sons along with three stepchildren. Over the years he worked mostly in construction and as a painter, and he also served in maintenance at Hale Mahaolu in Kahului. He considered his greatest achievement to be passing on important knowledge and wisdom to his children. Severino was known by nearly everyone, a familiar and friendly presence in his community. He had a playful spirit and delighted in joking and pranking his family on birthdays and at Christmas. He loved listening to Hawaiian music, enjoyed drawing and sketching, and treasured the family road trips to Hana, Maui, during his children's grade school years. A man of deep faith, Severino attended church every Saturday and Sunday and generously gave his time to help at Hale Makua in Kahului. He was there for his family through good times and difficult ones, and his presence remains woven into every memory his loved ones hold dear. He is survived by his sons, Severino Jr. and Michael W. Presbitero. A viewing will be held at Nakamura's Mortuary, 1218 Lower Main Street, Wailuku, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a service at 10:30 a.m. and burial at 2:00 p.m. He will be with us always.
