Sandulia Kathleen Bybee – September 9, 1955 – March 27, 2026

Sandulia Kathleen Bybee, known to everyone as Sandee, passed away on March 27, 2026, in Anchorage, Alaska, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 70 years old. Sandee was born on September 9, 1955, on St. Paul Island, a place that shaped her spirit and gave her a deep connection to the rugged beauty of Alaska. That connection stayed with her throughout her entire life. She eventually made her home in Anchorage, but she never stopped exploring the state she loved. One of her greatest joys was taking long drives all over Alaska, discovering new roads and revisiting favorite stretches of highway, always ready for whatever the next mile had to offer. If you knew Sandee, you knew her humor. She had a gift for making people laugh, for finding the funny side of things and delivering it in a way that could light up a room. Her wit was genuine and warm, never at anyone's expense, and it drew people to her. She had a way of putting others at ease, of turning an ordinary moment into something memorable with just the right comment at just the right time. Of all the roles Sandee played in life, being a grandma was the one she treasured most. She loved it wholeheartedly, and her grandchildren brought her a kind of happiness that was unmistakable. Her face would brighten around them, and she poured her love, her laughter, and her time into those relationships without reservation. Sandee is survived by her daughters, Georgia and Camille Bybee; and her son, Robert Fratis. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Bianca Fratis. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, extended family, and the many friends whose lives she touched with her humor and her heart. A viewing will be held on April 6th at 11:00 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 12:00 p.m. Details regarding the location may be obtained by contacting the family. Sandee lived life on her own terms, with laughter, love, and an open road ahead of her. She will be deeply missed, but the joy she brought to those around her will not be forgotten.
