Roy Alvin Sleezer – May 14, 1944 – January 20, 2026

Roy Alvin Sleezer, 81, of Cypress, Texas, passed away on January 20, 2026, due to hypoxic respiratory failure. Born on May 14, 1944, in Gridley, Kansas, to Melvin Ray Sleezer and Edith Juanita Sleezer, Roy lived a full life marked by service, hard work, and a spirit that drew people to him wherever he went. After graduating from high school, Roy joined the United States Air Force, answering the call to serve his country. Following his military service, he built a long and dedicated career as a Jet Engine Mechanic in civil service, working at Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, and Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, until his retirement. Roy was a man who spoke his mind without hesitation and never worried much about being politically correct. His sharp wit and love of a good joke made him the life of any gathering. He loved a good party, and his warmth and humor drew friends and family close. Yet those who knew him well also recognized a quieter, more reflective side. He enjoyed listening to music, with country being his favorite, and in earlier years he was a devoted fan of car racing. A spirited card game was one of his greatest pleasures, and he relished the laughter and friendly competition that came with it. Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin Ray and Edith Juanita Sleezer; his partner, Diana Snider Young; his sister, Reno Shaffer and husband Bill Shaffer and his brother, John Sleezer. He is survived by his son, Stephen Sleezer wife, Candelaria his daughters, Anna Spalding, partner, Ronnie and Kristine Senica, husband Brian; his brothers, George Sleezer and Jim Sleezer; nine grandchildren, Allyssa, Alliyah, Stevie, Caleb, Allison, Gino, Anthony, Dillon, and Ethan; and one great-grandchild, Hailey. He is also survived by numerous extended family members and friends whose lives he touched with his humor and generous spirit. May Roy find peace and rest in the arms of his Creator, reunited with those who went before him. A burial will take place at Gridley Cemetery on June 20, 2026, followed by a memorial service at 11:30 a.m. at the Gridley Community Center in Gridley, Kansas. Family and friends are welcome to gather in celebration of Roy's life.
