Rodney Charles Ballam – June 22, 1957 – August 28, 2026

Rodney Charles Ballam, known to just about everyone as Rod, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2026, at the age of 69. A lifelong resident of the Concord area, Rod was born there on June 22, 1957. Rodney made his living with his hands, working as a concrete form carpenter for over 30 years. He took real pride in that trade, and part of Boston's skyline stands today because of the work he and his crews put in. Before that, he proudly served his country in the Army Reserves. But if you knew Rod, you knew where his heart really lived, and that was out in the woods and on the water. He was an outdoorsman through and through. There was no place he felt more at home than chasing deer and turkey with his buddies, or getting out on the water or the ice to pull in some fish. He had a way of pulling people along with him, and plenty of good stories came out of those trips. Rod was the kind of man who was always there when someone needed a hand. Not afraid to get his hands dirty for you, you bring the beer. His dogs held very special place in his heart too. Whether it was Jack, Jill, or JoJo, Rod put in the time to raise some of the most lovable dogs you could ever meet, and they went just about everywhere with him. Above all, Rodney was proudest of his children and grandchildren and everything they accomplished. Their success meant more to him than anything he ever built. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert, and his brother Randall. Rodney leaves behind his son, Ryan and his wife Megan of Deerfield; his daughter, Andrea of Concord; and his brothers, Robert and his wife Marie of Loudon and Ronald and his wife Wendy of Vermont, along with grandchildren Adora, Hunter, Phoenix, Tucker, and Hailey as well as many nieces and nephews, whom he adored. Rodney lived a life of hard work, hard play, generosity, and love for the outdoors, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace, and may his memory bring comfort to those he leaves behind. Services will be Friday, Sept 11th at 12:00 Longmeadow Cemetery 623 Chester Rd. Auburn, NH
