Raleigh James Rucker – 1973 – June 13, 2026
1SG (R) Raleigh James Rucker Jr, known to all who loved him as "Ruck," passed away on June 13, 2026, in Columbus, Georgia. Born on October 11, 1973 in Baltimore, Maryland, Raleigh lived a life defined by service, sacrifice, and an unwavering devotion to others. Raleigh dedicated twenty-five years to the United States Army, retiring as a 1SG after serving his nation with distinction and honor. A Veteran of the Global War on Terrorism and Purple Heart recipient, he embodied the highest ideals of duty and courage. His military career was a testament to his character, a character that those closest to him recognized not only on the battlefield but in every aspect of his life. He was a proud father who led by example, a loyal citizen who gave selflessly to his community, and a devoted Mason who upheld the principles of brotherhood and integrity. Those who knew him understood that Ruck was a man of exceptional character and the most unselfish of friends, always placing the needs of others before his own. Above all, Raleigh was a beloved brother and family man whose warmth and steadfast presence touched everyone fortunate enough to know him. His faith in Christ sustained him throughout his life, and it is in that faith that his family finds comfort now, trusting in the promise of eternal peace. Raleigh is survived by his loving family, five children and two grandchildren who cherish his memory and the extraordinary legacy he leaves behind. Services are tentatively planned for Saturday, June 20, 2026, in Columbus, Georgia, with further details to be released soon. The Rucker family respectfully requests that all non-family members direct information requests and offers of assistance through the family's designated contact, allowing the family time and privacy to plan and prepare for Raleigh's service. Close friend and mentor, Mike Knight. will coordinate releases of information and act as an emisary to the Rucker Family by which all non family members can communicate and recieve infomation.
