John Wilford Riggs – April 21, 1946 – October 5, 2026
John Wilford Riggs, 80, passed away on October 5, 2026, at the Majestic Care facility following a long journey with Alzheimer's. Born April 21, 1946, in Bedford, Indiana, John lived a full and adventurous life that he loved to share with anyone willing to listen. John spent his working years as a driver and laborer for the Bedford Street Department, and before returning to Indiana in 1993, he worked for several businesses out in California. On November 10, 1994, he married the love of his life, Myra Roudebush, and together they built a happy home. Anyone who knew John knew he always had a good story ready to go, whether it was about one of his many jobs, hiking the Grand Canyon, or riding Route 66 across the country with his family in his younger days. Closer to home, you could usually find him outside most days, tending to things around the house. Mowing, in particular, was a true passion of his, and he took real pride in it. Faith was an important part of John's life. He was a member of Solsberry Christian Church and formerly attended Cincinnati Christian Church, and his Christian beliefs guided and comforted him throughout his years. John is survived by his son, Colt Roudebush, and his daughter, Krystle Voegel and sisters-in-laws Iris Deidra Marsh; sisters-in-laws Iris Riggs and Margaret Riggs. He was preceded in death by parents Elmer and Mariene Riggs; sister Yvonne Sandefur; brothers Don and David Riggs; brother-in-laws Max Sandefur and Bob Marsh. A funeral service will be held November 6 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bedford Free Methodist Church, with Adam Strauser officiating. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family asks that donations be made to Bedford Free Methodist Church, Solsberry Christian Church, or a charity of your choice.
