James L Jones, Jr – December 18, 1968 – October 13, 2026
James L Jones, Jr., known affectionately as Jim, of Belforest, Alabama, passed away on October 13, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 57 years old. Born on December 18, 1968, in Fairhope, Alabama, Jim grew to become a devoted family man and a cornerstone of his community. In the 1990s, he and his father started an automotive repair shop together, a venture that would define much of his life's work. When his father passed, Jim inherited the business and went on to serve his community faithfully for more than thirty years. Jim's skill as a mechanic was matched only by the generosity of his heart. His kindness showed itself in countless quiet ways. On one occasion, a single mother came into his shop with a car that had a blown motor and no means to repair it. Rather than turn her away, Jim went out back, fixed up his own daughter's old Honda, and gave it to her. That was simply who he was, always willing to help anyone he could in any way he could. Beyond his work, Jim had a lifelong love of old cars. He often attended the Cruising the Coast event in Mississippi, where he could enjoy the classic automobiles that brought him so much joy. Above all, he was a wonderful husband, a loving father, and an all around good person whose warmth touched everyone who knew him. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Faye Jones and James L Jones, Sr. He is survived by his wife, Diane Jones; his son, James L Jones, III; his daughter, Cassandra Diane Jones; and his sisters, Tammy Jones and Donna Gardner. A Celebration of Life will be held in Barnwell, Alabama, at 13990 Hwy 181, Fairhope, AL. Food and beverages will be served. Friends, family, and members of the community are warmly invited to attend in remembrance of a man who gave so much of himself to others. Please come and help us celebrate his life.
