Hollzy McGuire – December 19, 1956 – May 30, 2026

Hollzy "Hoss" McGuire, 69, of Arizona, passed away on May 30, 2026. Born on December 19, 1956, in Ray, Arizona, Hoss was the kind of man who could light up a room the moment he walked in, whether it was with his charm, his sarcasm, or that beautiful singing voice of his. Hoss grew up in Riverside, Arizona and graduated from Ray High School in Kearny, Arizona, where he loved playing football. He married Karen Moore, and together they raised two sons, Joshua and Travis. He was a proud and devoted father who treasured every moment spent with his boys and the rest of his family. Over the years, Hoss built an impressive and varied career. He was a skilled Welder who worked as a Boilermaker, and he later reinvented himself as a Financial Advisor. But if you knew Hoss, you knew that music was always close to his heart. He sang in a band and eventually owned his own karaoke business, sharing his gift with anyone lucky enough to hear him. Hoss was a man of many passions. He loved cowboy action shooting, hunting, fishing, football, and, as those close to him would tell you with a grin, he never lost his appreciation for the ladies. More than anything, though, he loved being surrounded by friends and family, holding court with one of his legendary stories. He was a true storyteller, charismatic and quick-witted, the kind of person people just naturally gravitated toward. Hoss was preceded in death by his parents Jim, and Mary McGuire; his sister, Barbra McGuire; his brothers, Galen and Jimmy McGuire; and his granddaughters Arvilla and Faith McGuire. He is survived by his sons, Joshua (Jamie), and Travis (Alison) McGuire; and his sisters, Patty, and Cathy McGuire; and grandchildren Alesha, Damien, Jasmyn, Payton, Jamie, Lillian, and Memphis McGuire; and one to be determined, along with many other family members and friends who loved him dearly. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Christ Church of the Valley, 7007 W Happy Valley Rd, Peoria, AZ 85383, followed by a wake at the home of Travis and Alison McGuire. Hoss carried a prayer close to his heart that speaks to the cowboy spirit he lived by: "Father, I pause, thankful for the many blessings bestowed upon me. I ask for guidance and direction in my life. Help me, Lord, to live my life in such a manner that when I make my last ride to the country up there, where the grass grows lush and the water runs cool, that you'll take me by the hand and say welcome home, cowboy."
