Harry Joseph Abrahamsen – June 3, 1942 – April 11, 2026

Harry Joseph Abrahamsen, 83, of Matamoras, PA, unexpectedly passed away at home of a heart attack on April 11, 2026. Known to many as "The Hammer," "The Big H," or simply "Mr. A," Harry lived a life so full and so vibrant that anyone who crossed his path was better for it. Born on June 3, 1942, in Teaneck, NJ, Harry was the son of the late Harry Sigurd Abrahamsen and the late Eileen Abrahamsen. He became the first sibling in his family to graduate from Wagner College, where he also made his mark playing football for the Wagner Seahawks. His senior year (1964) was historic, going 10-0. This team is one of only 3 undefeated squads in school history earning the prestigious Lambert Trophy and has been honored multiple times at Wagner Weekend reunions, most recently celebrating their 60th Anniversary in 2024. He went on to earn his Master's degree, setting a standard of determination that would define the rest of his life. Harry married his high school sweetheart, Roseann, and together they built a beautiful life and a family that meant everything to him. He was resilient and persistent, which served him well when he left his corporate position at Kodak to launch his own pre-press and printing company, becoming a successful entrepreneur for over fifty years. Harry could connect with anyone, from high-profile executives to the cashier at the local store. Everyone knew Harry, and Harry made everyone feel known. He was thoughtful, kind, supportive, and beyond generous, helping countless family members, friends, and acquaintances along the way. Harry loved any reason to gather people together, whether it was grilling an enormous steak, pouring a few drinks, and telling his famously colorful stories, or celebrating birthdays, holidays, or "just because." Harry adored his family. He was obsessed with golf, loved skiing everywhere from Vermont to Zermatt, Switzerland, and was a devoted Yankees and Giants fan who treasured doing draft picks with his grandson Harry. He loved great food, fine wine, world travel, and traditions. He was also a doting doggy dad to his precious Lah Lah. Go big or go home. That was Harry. Only the best of the best. He rode the wheels off of life. Harry was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Karen Walsh and Eileen Abrahamsen and in-laws Mildred and Joseph Tozzo. He is survived by his loving wife, Roseann Abrahamsen; his son, Harry James Abrahamsen, and his wife Jenny; his daughter, Lucille Jackson, and her husband David; his brothers Thomas Abrahamsen and his wife Kathy, and Richard Abrahamsen and his wife Phoebe; his brother-in-law Jimmy Walsh; his sister-in-law Marie Long and husband Steve Long; his sister-in-laws Rachael Bonadeo and Lucille Nolan; his daughter-in-laws Patty Augusta and Fiona Abrahamsen; his grandchildren; Lexa Wong and wife Anna, Harry Abrahamsen and wife Tara, Adara Gemellaro and husband Joey, Connor Abrahamsen, and Cordelia Abrahamsen; his great-grandchildren; Oliver and Alex Wong, Jenevieve and Naomi Abrahamsen, Teller and Tilia Gemellaro and many more family members and friends who were blessed to know him. A Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 20th, at 11:15 AM at The Presentation Church, located at 271 W Saddle River Rd, Upper Saddle River, NJ 07458, with a Celebration of Life repass immediately following in the Presentation Hall of the church.
