Dennis Allen Baker – February 7, 1945 – June 18, 2026

Dennis Allen Baker, known to some who loved him as Denny, passed away on June 18, 2026, in Spokane, Washington. He was 81 years old. Born on February 7, 1945, in Lebanon, Oregon, to Steve and Mary Jane Baker, Dennis lived a life marked by kindness, generosity, and an unwavering devotion to the people around him. After graduating, Dennis answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Air Force from 1964 to 1967. After his service, he built a long and successful career in banking, a profession he dedicated most of his adult life to. But if you asked anyone who knew him, they would tell you that his real legacy had nothing to do with work. It was the way he made people feel. In 1981, Dennis married Margo Matson, and together they blended their families and built a life filled with love, laughter, and memorable family vacations. Becoming a father and later a grandfather were among his greatest joys, and he poured himself into those roles with everything he had. He was also a good brother, someone his siblings could always count on for support, a kind word, or a well-timed joke. Dennis had a way of making everyone feel welcome and at ease. He was humorous and witty, the type of person who could lighten any room. He was also deeply compassionate, selfless, and forgiving, generous not just with what he had but with his time. Whether he was tending his garden, firing up the barbeque for family and friends, or patiently teaching kids how to play cribbage, tennis, or backgammon, he gave his full attention to the moment. He loved good food, and he loved cheering on his teams, following the University of Oregon, WSU, and Gonzaga with genuine enthusiasm. More than anything, though, he loved spending time with his family. Dennis is survived by his wife, Margo, along with his children, grandson, and siblings, all of whom carry his love with them every day and forever hold him close to their hearts. No formal services are planned at this time, but the family will celebrate Dennis's life in the coming months with a meaningful commemoration. He will be missed dearly. Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing that we will be reunited again. Until then, Heaven got a good man.
