Bernhard Kostka, age 72, of Seligenstadt, Germany, passed away on April 1, 2026, at a hospital in Frankfurt, Germany, following complications from surgery. Born on July 21, 1953, in Seligenstadt, Bernhard, known lovingly as "Bern" to those closest to him, lived a life defined by warmth, devotion, and quiet strength. After completing his secondary education, Bernhard built a long and honest career as a truck driver, a profession that suited his independent spirit and strong work ethic. The open road was a natural fit for a man who found joy in the journey itself. Beyond his professional life, Bernhard was a man of many passions. He loved to travel, exploring countless destinations with his family, whether camping in his van, riding his motorcycle, or simply setting out to discover somewhere new. At home, he was an avid Formula 1 enthusiast and a gifted cook who delighted in preparing traditional German meals, the kind that brought everyone to the table and made a house feel like home. He also held a special love for animals, raising a loyal dog during his children's younger years and later caring devotedly for his cat. Above all, Bernhard was a family man. A loving husband, a devoted father, and a cherished brother, he had a rare ability to make everyone around him feel at ease. His kindness, humor, and gentle spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew him. To his daughter Jasmin, he was a protector, a companion, and someone who created countless unforgettable moments from childhood through adulthood. The bond they shared through traveling, everyday life, and simply being together will remain forever in her heart. Bernhard is survived by his beloved wife, Hannah Kostka; his daughters, Jasmin Kostka and Melanie Kostka; his brother, Ingo Kostka; his sister, Maria Kostka; his nephew, Stephan Kostka; and many extended family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his niece, Nadine Kostka. A cremation ceremony will be held on April 20, 2026, at the Cemetery on Aschaffenburger Str. 46, Germany. All who knew and loved Bernhard are welcome to attend and celebrate his life. May he rest peacefully in God's eternal care. Bernhard, you were deeply loved, and you will be missed beyond words. Your laughter, your kindness, and the love you gave so freely will stay with us always. You will forever be in our hearts.
