Arthur Alan Penno – October 25, 1962 – March 5, 2026
Arthur Alan Penno, known to most as Art, passed away on March 5, 2026, at his home in Milford, New Hampshire, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 63 years old. Born on October 25, 1962, in Winchester, Massachusetts, Art grew up with a love for the outdoors and a heart for helping others. He served proudly in the military for ten years, a chapter of his life that shaped his discipline, dedication, and deep sense of duty to those around him. After his military service, Art found his true calling at Shriver Job Corps, where he worked for an impressive 22 years and 4 months. He loved that job, and more than anything, he loved mentoring the young people who came through those doors. Helping kids find their way was something that gave him real purpose, and he was proud of every moment he spent doing it. When Art wasn't working, you could find him outside. Fishing, hiking, camping, watching wildlife, or working in his garden, he was happiest under an open sky. Some of his most cherished moments were spent taking his boys out fishing and hiking, sharing that love of nature with them. Art was the kind of guy who would go out of his way to help anyone in need, often without being asked. He had a great sense of humor, a stubborn streak he wore honestly, and a quiet strength that kept him from ever wanting to burden others with his struggles. He is survived by his sons, Michael Penno and David Penno; his daughter, Jessica Flewell; his mother, Judith Howe; his father, Harry Howe; his sisters, Dianna Gruner and Elaine Joyal; his brother, Alan Penno; and his dear friend, Christine Ouellette. Art will be cremated, and a private ceremony will be held with close family and friends at a later date. In lieu of flowers, consider spending some time outdoors in his memory.
